Sarasota - Tactical Operations

Our tactical operations management focuses on carefully managing our business processes that produce and distribute our products and services. The overall activities include product / service creation, development, production and distribution with regard to all operations within our organization. We focus on the efficiency and effectiveness of processes with measurement and analysis of those processes.

Second component includes the project management aspect with focus on bringing organizational strategy into project planning and execution. Our project management methodology serves as a critical link between executive visions and the work of the enterprise.

Our organization has successfully launched two areas of experts, the Process and Quality Innovations team and the Project Management Office for effective organizational change and building process and project management competency.

Process Management:

Our business process management initiative focuses on standards development to support the entire life-cycle of process management – from process design, through deployment, execution, maintenance, and optimization.

Our aim is to unify process thinking across businesses organizationally with insight, innovation and interoperability. With the development of our AS-IS and TO-BE processes, items such as cycle times, material costs and labor costs are typically collected for generating optimal processes.

The following example includes a Human Resources Process improvement project conducted in 2002.

Service Level Management:

A continuation of our business process management initiative is in the development of service levels between customers (Service Level Catalogs, Service Level Agreements) and departments (Operational Level Agreements).

The following example includes templates utilized in developing these agreements.

Project Management:

We define a successful project as completing all the scope of a project:
- On time
- Within budget
- With an acceptable quality level
- With an acceptable risk level
- With stakeholder satisfaction

Our project management methodology follows a four-phase process for successfully launching enterprise wide projects. The following includes templates developed within each phase of a project.

Initiation:

  • Project Concept Document: Document submitted by each Core Service Owner as a request to work with the PMO to develop a budget estimate and high level requirements.
  • Project Charter: Document generated from the PMO Office to provide the Core Service Owner a budget estimate for the Concept Document they submitted.
